A horrendous story of coerced induction, poor after care and assault in and out of the birth room.
My husband missed the birth as they sent him home claiming I would be "ages yet because its my first". He is still traumatised.
It was the most horrendous experience ever and now I’m pregnant with number 4, I will never birth in a hospital again.
After being laughed at and told I wouldn’t be birthing that night to being checked , 5/6cm & blue lighted to a consultant led ward, strapped to a monitor and placed on a bed within the hour, the midwife spent the rest of the time with her back to me doing paper work.
At an out of hours appointment because of some retained placenta tissue, after an extremely traumatic birth, I was examined with a speculum.
Fast forward to once we had our baby a few hours later they took him "for a quick check" and never came back, when we asked where he was we was told he is now staying in the special baby unit, we quickly asked to be shown where he was!
Once signed off there and having a check in back at my booking hospital towards the end of my pregnancy the appointment was all near done and dusted, she closed my notes and realised the front said home birth. She scoffed, I confirmed I would be having a home birth. She reopened my notes.
A tragic story of a violation of human rights and invasion into private property during a home birth.
